Lorenzo Cicconi Massi (Senigallia, 1966) began working as a professional photographer during the nineties. Passionate about Mario Giacomelli's photography, he realized his thesis project “Mario Giacomelli and the Misa group in Senigallia”, and in 2011 he dedicated to Giacomelli a documentary film “I remember Mario Giacomelli” made 10 years after his death. In 2000 he joined Contrasto agency and the magazine ARTE included him among the 10 young talents of the new Italian photographic panorama. His works have been published in major Italian and international magazines and newspapers. In 2007 he was awarded in the “sports features singles” section at the World Press Photo, with a work on young Chinese football players in training. Also in 2007 he received the GRIN award for a series on young people "Fedeli alla Tribù". In the summer of 2011 he exhibited his works at the Venice Biennale, Marche Pavilion, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, and also at ParisPhoto, represented by Forma Galleria. In 2012 he worked for the Altagamma project “Italian Contemporary Excellence” with the most important Italian luxury brands, exhibited in venues in Milan, Shanghai and Tokyo, with a volume published by Rizzoli. In April 2013 he exhibited at the Ferragamo Museum in Florence for the exhibition The prodigious shoemaker. The 2016 exhibition "Le donne volanti" was first exhibited at the Nori De Nobili museum, then in 2017 at Galleria Contrasto Milan and Palazzo Montecitorio, inaugurated by the President of the Chamber Laura Boldrini. In 2018 the exhibition "La liquidità del movimento" was held at the Certosa di S. Giacomo in Capri and the anthological exhibition "In Aria" at the Rocca Roveresca in Senigallia. He made his debut as film director in 2003 with "Prova a volare", starring actors Riccardo Scamarcio, Ennio Fantastichini and Antonio Catania.
