Born in Parma in 1976, Marco Gualazzini began his career as a photographer in 2004, with the local newspaper of his city, La Gazzetta di Parma. His most recent works include reports on microfinance in India, freedom of expression in Myanmar, discrimination against minorities in Pakistan; in recent years he has mainly covered humanitarian crises and conflicts in Africa.
He conceived and participated in the making of a documentary for RAI on the caste system in India, awarded for "Best Photography" at the Al-Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, and directed a documentary on the subject of rape as a weapon of war Congo, and one based on the reception model for refugees in Uganda. His works have been published in national and international magazines, including CNN, M (Le Monde), Der Spiegel, The Sunday Times Magazine, Paris Match, The New York Times, Al-Jazeera, Geo, Time Magazine (Lightbox), Courrier International, Internazionale and L'Espresso among others.
